Last night Games - Dead Mans Hand and x-Wing

Last nights games were Dead Mans Hand and X-wing.

First up was Dead Mans Hand.

General view of the town.
The Outlaws start in the Red building across from the Law men. The Out laws get to go first but I manage to get two repeater armed Deputies up on the roof and they dominate the game.
2 Deputies on the roof make great sharp shooters.
First shot at the outlaw on the roof opposite see's him killed, they also contribute in taking down the gunslinger who was after the Marshall.
Outlaw Boss takes down
The Outlaws Boss makes it all the way across the town square and bursts into the Sheriffs office to get at the two Deputies on the roof, only to come bursting out again killing the shotgun armed deputy . The Sheriff then goes head to head with the Outlaw boss.
Marshall gets shot in b the back.
The Marshall is in a sticky position, he was shot at around 12 times and only after taking down one outlaw to his front got a wound when an outlaw with a shotgun sneaked up behind him.
Game over positions.
The out laws were down to 2 men out of 5 and a big nerve test was required by the outlaws. They failed and the Law men took the survivors into custody, looks like the gallows may just have some use after all.

next we played X-wing

Just for fun we played X-wing using the Dead Mans Hand terrain we had set up for he previous game.
2 Tie fighters faced of Biggs in his X-wing. First turn saw Biggs turn and glance a building. Luckily for him no damage was done. Meanwhile the Ties charged forward.
Turn 2 Biggs and a Tie go head to head

the Tie gets on Biggs tail and stays there all game.

Biggs goes head to head with one of the Ties which takes his shields down, the Tie then gets on his tail and stays there for the entire game.

Biggs using the Gallows as cover.
Using the Gallows as cover one of the Ties inadvertently barrel rolls into it and bounces off. Biggs races around the Gallows only to be confronted by the second Tie fighter
Hmmm what is Biggs going to do now??

Biggs manages to damage one of the Ties and does a critical which causes two hits on the other Tie fighter but they still hunt him down relentlessly.

Biggs is in trouble
Caught in a cross fire with both shields gone and suffering 1 critical damage, Biggs finally runs out of luck and is destroyed in a cunningly conceived crossfire by the two Tie fighters.

Call to Muster 2014

Sometimes my hobbies collide in a happy way. As part of one of my other hobbies I travelled up to Middlesbrough to call in at the "Call To Muster 2014" Wargames show to check on a couple of friends.

The Event was a small one, held in a small sports hall. The traders populated the fringes of the hall with demo games and model displays in he centre.  I enjoyed the event despite its small size and below are some pictures from it.

Cowboys shoot it out in a town called "Serenity"

Pegasus Bridge  a Bolt Action game.

WW2 Rapid Fire, using Bolt Action activation rules.

Napoleonic HOTT games but with Orcs and Zombies.

Cowboys participation games..

Update on where we are up to...

Well I was going to go to Allumwell Wargames show today, but being my life at the moment things don't run that way and a hospital appointment has scuppered me from going.

Since January I have been a little bit ill, nothing serious or life threatening, just very very inconvenient, that has prevented me from working and driving.

So what does this mean for my games. Well I can't concentrate on things too long and I suppose a type of lethargy has set in. I am currently assembling my Drop zone commander forces, I am planning a Russian HOTT army to appose my US Army.  I need to work on the opposition to my ORC HOTT army.

2 solo games will probably take place over the next few weeks, One will be a WW2 scenario, which will be a replay of a previous played game (Name is escaping me at the moment), and a Modern CWC game.
I need to work on my Falklands 15mm project and may also do a 10mm Falklands CWC. Also need to redo my Napoleonic bases and flat varnish them. SO lots of things, plenty of time, just a lack of get up and go.

So as you can see I am flitting quite a lot as my concentration slips and I am inspired by another project. Not going to Allumwell has well, upset me a little but the appointment is far too important, to risk getting stuck in traffic in trying to race back from Birmingham to get to the hospital on time.

I have on the other hand spent some of my future wages on some new terrain off E(vil)bay, so watch this space as they say.

Another set off rules has landed in my lap due to my evil friend....
Chain of Command by Two Fat Lardies.
My friend who is currently in the States will be returning for a month soon and this is his plan for us to play a 1941 Desert campaign using these rules.
The initial read through is quite promising and it looks like it may be adaptable for the Falklands Games.

Muskets and Tomahawks is now another set of rules looming on my gaming scene, as another gaming friend wants me to do a period he actually likes. well I have told him he can buy the Rules and the Armies and Paint them this time and I will play them, seems a fair deal as my shed is full off stuff and much is gathering dust.

We will wait and see as they say.

HOTT test game

Played a test game of HOTT and although it was quick I am unsure how to do a few things, likethe combats which were getting complicated.

Orc Setup

US Army Set up, they were defending.

US Army start to redeploy

Orcs surge forward on a pip role of 1.

Again the Orcs surge forward after an0other great pip throw of a 2.
The US had redeployed a bit more.

Combined US shooting on the middle rider kills it.

Another great Pip role for the Orcs, a 1!

US shooting takes another rider down.

Orcs Crash into the US lines.

The result was bad for the US, 1 shooter dead and 1 behemoth.

The US Hero General and behemoth try for an instant victory and target the Orc General rider.

The Orc general survives and recoils.

The Orcs, hero targets the behemoth, whilst the Orc's behemoth and General target the US hero general.

Its not good for the Orc's.

You win some, you loose some. The Orc's General recoils along with their behemoth which is destroyed as it has no where to go. But in return the US last behemoth is destroyed.

The US hero re-joins the shooters in the woods.

An attack by the hordes did not go too well for the Orc's, with 2 destroyed and the other two recoiled.

The Orcs try to dislodge the shooters in the woods but only succeed in recoiling one and getting there warbands hit in the flank by the US general which fights to a stalemate.

End game as I don't know how to fight this one, the Orc General just hit the US general in the flank.

My Conundrum is as follows:
The US Shooters faces a warband which is supported by another warband, who in turn are both hit in the flank by the US general, who in turn is hit in the flank by the Orc general, So Now I ask...
How the eck do I work that combat out?
